Citadelle de Doullens

The citadel at Doullens is the oldest fortified place in France, built before Vauban was even born. It was used for five centuries, first as a fortress, then as a prison. Today, Somme Patrimoine's cultural project aims to share the citadel's history with as many people as possible, as well as raising awareness of the need to preserve and conserve built heritage.
