Picquigny

Located in the North-West of Amiens, Picquigny is a charming village still has a certain cachet medieval with some houses typical of the time and some remains of a castle.

Few words about the castle...

There are some outstanding remains of this 11th century fortress, like the 14th century walls, the Sévigné Pavilion, a souvenir of the marchioness' stay, the Renaissance kitchen, the Collegiate Church and the underground areas. Ranked Monument Historique.

The collegiale Saint-Martin

In the middle of a fortified enclosure. The Canons’ assembly founded in 1066 by the first le premier Vidame of Amiens, Eustache de Picquigny, was still held here at the end of the 20th century.
It has a remarkable 12th century transept, a 13th century nave and a 16th century steeple.

Not to miss

Each year, Castle of Picquigny will travel in time and will propel you to the Middle Ages to the encounter of the knights, artisans and performers. In the shelter of the fortifications, you will find stalls of merchants, craftsmen's workshops and taverns.
On the exterior walls of a medieval fair, noisy and colorful will be hosted by comedians, dancers, musicians, acrobats, fire-eaters. Nearby, a farm includes a herd of domestic animals.
On air shows will be battles, tournaments and demonstrations of falconry.
Games and workshops along the feudal castle and encampments. Young and old can learn about the manufacture of mesh, pottery, leather, coats of arms, coins ... They will also discover many medieval games and practice the sword fight.

A wood and water country...

You will observe beautiful landscapes around Picquigny. Several footpathes let you discover all the treasures : forests, hills, ponds and marshes.

Calm waters or arm of the "Vieille Somme"more agitated, you can practice canoeing or even the raft. With the Departmental Committee Canoe-Kayak (CDCK), rentals, hiking, bivouac and trainings are organized for groups and individuals.
