Marais des Cavins à Bourdon
The Marais des Cavins (marshes) at Bourdon, in the Somme valley, are perfect for enjoying the great outdoors and getting some fresh air! There are 17 hectares of marshes with reed beds, willows and waterlilies. a 3 km trail of compacted sand, ideal for pushchairs and the bikes/scooters of older children. The marshes in this valley inspired the French author, Hector Malot, to write his children's novel "En famille" (Nobody's Girl, in English translation).
About this equipment
The Marais des Cavins is situated in the middle valley of the Somme, in the heart of the flood channel of the River. The natural site is in an area of outstanding ecological and landscape interest. It is marked by a superb blend of landscapes and opportunities for eco-tourism with the marais du Château (marsh) and the larris of Hangest-sur-Somme that overlooks it. The drive to enhance the site therefore takes into account the choice to create loop walks enabling nature lovers to discover the contrasting areas. First and foremost, the network of sites secures the conservation of protected species typically found in marshes and man-made lakes. This enables them to spread from 1 site to another
