A bit of history...

A powerful abbey founded in 657 by Queen Bathilde made of Corbie a rich city. The most imposing relic of this period is the Abbatiale Saint Pierre.

Gothic building characterised by its impressive façade. One of the last witnesses of the powerful benedictine abbey of Corbie, whose influence spread all over Europe. The church houses a number of treasures: relics, statues, plan of the Abbey before the Revolution and model of the building.

Also called Porte d'honneur, this door was the entry of the Abbey.
Decorated with two statues recently restored : faith on the left and charity.

Ancient castle built in 1862 by M de Caix de St Aymour.
In 1923, city of Corbie bought the castle and its gardens.

Built in the 15th and 16th centuries, this church has a remarkable tympan on its Flamboyant façade: a large bas-relief depicting Christ's entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. This beautiful little church is a jewel of the Renaissance period in Corbie.

At the top of this headland, you can discover a beautiful view on ponds of the Somme's valley. Ponds cover more than 2000 hectares.

These ponds were developped in the Middle Ages to supply fishes to monks of the Abbey and peat to the inhabitants of Corbie.
