> The hydro power station

(Historic Monument in December 1984)

Light and water arrived in Long in 1903. The inhabitants of this small city of Somme was the first to have electricity and current water. All the villages around waited a long time for this comfort.
This small factory furnished electricity until 1968 and water till 1974.
Today, the power station is a museum. The guide introduce you to the history of the hydro power station and the mining of the peat used to warm the houses.

> Saint Jean Baptiste Church

 

(Historic Monument in 2007)

In the middle of 19th century, the church was too small and too dangerous because of its state of dilapidation. They took the decision to destroy it and to rebuild it but the original steeple of the 16th century was kept. The style is neo-gothic and light is everywhere inside.
In 1876, a beautiful organ made by wonderful Cavaillé Coll was setted in the church. Nowadays, great organists come to play.

> Long's Marsh and its horses

Discover this natural and ecological area maintened thanks to the work of horses from Camargue. Come and admire the ponds dug to extract the peat used to warm the houses.
