This centre opened its doors in Thiepval on July 1st 2004 thanks to its efforts between "the Regional Council of the Somme" and "the Thiepval Project" (which raised a national subscription in Great Britain in the aim to gather funds) with the support of the European Union. In addition to different services (information centre, shop, showing rooms, drink distributors, sanitary facilities), a vast exhibition space is offered to teach visitors the necessary keys to understanding of the Somme battle, Thiepval history during the WW1. Other boards are devoted to CWGC, Lutyens, reconstruction, remembering duty.
