It's THE biggest classical music Festival of Northern France. From July 7th to July 21st, don't miss 15 days of emotions and musical meetings!
|
In 2010, the 26th Classical Music Festival of Saint-Riquier will offer you 15 days of musical festivities, around 35 concerts from the 16th Century to nowardays, thematic days and will pay hommage to Frederic Chopin for the bicentenary of his birth. What a good pretext to go through romantic text reading of George Sand and Alfred de Musset and performance works of Mendelssohn, Liszt, Schummann ... without forgetting Chopin! |

In the Carolingian time, Saint Riquier was an important Benedictine place. The Saint Riquier Abbey is an archetypal of different periods of the Gothic. The most amazing is the treasury room and its walls’paintings still in a very good state. The Abbey shelters a museum on the rural life and craftsmen in Picardy from the past such as locksmith, blacksmith, carpenter, chair-bottomer, etc… In the park, two barns have been built with traditional material. Temporary exhibitions take place in the museum along the year. |

In great majority, concerts of the Festival are made in Saint-Riquier's Abbatiale : in the nave for important concerts or in the chorus for concerts which need more intimacy. |
