Citadelle d'Amiens

While Jean Errard de Bar-le-Duc was concerned with making it impregnable, Renzo Piano took up the challenge of making it part of the city. Following the capture of the city by the Spanish in 1597, the Citadel of Amiens was born of Henry IV's desire to strengthen the northern border of the kingdom. Despite its historical, architectural and landscape assets, the stronghold, established on an ancient Roman road and the remains of fortifications from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, remains a little-known place for the general public

Once a month, take advantage of the guided tours organized by the Heritage Department to learn the basics of military architecture and the organization of daily life in the stronghold and discover its new vocation as a public park and university.
