Eloïse

Guide

Eloïse loves History and Art Deco. She is an enthusiastic guide to the history of her town, Albert, and its colourful heritage!

My 3 'must see' activities in Poppy country

Go down into an old "muche" (underground shelter), 10m deep, and find out about the battle of the Somme and the life of soldiers in the trenches at the Somme 1916 Museum! Board a Caravelle aeroplane and discover the rich industrial and aeronautical history of Albert through the private collection of Marc Betrancourt. Climb the 230 steps in the bell tower of the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-Brebières and admire the wonderful panoramic view over the town of Albert and the battlefields!

My tasty treat

Albert waffles are delicious! They're made in a little village nearby, Authuille, at the Ferme du Moulin (and are on sale in the Tourist Information Office – very handy).

My good ideas for a lively evening

Try the Jeu de Paume theatre or Escalier du Rire for a relaxing and amusing experience or the Complex QG, a discotheque that reopened at the start of the year. It's the only one in the Upper Somme and there's even  a 'guinguette' style dance event on Sundays!
