Etangs de Long

Why come?

You will like
Located between the chaussée du Catelet and the commune of Long, this natural site shelters a great variety of species. Discover, during a walk, the biodiversity that has developed on this sensitive natural area. Among the species present on the site, you may have the chance to observe protected insects such as the Bloody Cricket or the Delicate Agrion. In the shade of ash, beech or oak trees, small piles of wood serve as shelter for animals and birds. The aquatic and peaceful atmosphere of these ponds invites you to explore the wetlands and to reconnect with nature. You can take advantage of this marked trail on foot or by bike from the lookout, and join the GR123 and the river once it is completed

Les Marais environnants des Communes is located in the heart of the middle peaty valley of the Somme in the commune of Long. The site is part of a complex of peaty ponds (Long, Longpré-les-Corps-Saints, Hallencourt, etc.) and has a great heritage value of European interest. Indeed, they present more than 12 natural habitats of the European Directive "Habitats" (aquatic meadows, amphibious vegetation, peaty meadows, peaty aspen...) sheltering a flora (yellow sedge, threadlike sedge, marsh chickweed, etc.) and a fauna (aquatic birds, dragonflies, bloody cricket) typical of the alkaline peaty marshes and ponds of Picardy.

Please note: go to the Maison Éclusière in Long or the Maison des marais in Longpré-les-Corps to discover the proposals for guided tours on foot and by boat. Bicycle, paddle and canoe rental is also available.
