Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain de Picardie Hauts-de-France

Drawing - its ways and merits - Support creation and acquire works to disseminate them, contribute to the cultural structure of the region and develop international exchanges - these are some of the aims of the artistic and cultural project of the Picardy Hauts-de-France Regional Contemporary Art Collection. In 2013, for its 30th anniversary, it began a cultural decentralization action, initiated by the State and the Hauts de France region, in accordance with the mission and conditions of contract required by the FRAC label. Frac Picardie Hauts-de-France | Des Mondes Dessinés therefore lays great stress on its dissemination and public awareness campaigns throughout the region and in Amiens and stimulates permanent partnerships with cultural and educational agents in the region. The creation of the Galeries network in sixth form colleges and secondary schools is a good illustration of this activity, organised by the public services department with help from the documentation centre dedicated, as a priority, to artists represented in the collection of works and drawings (over 2,000 works can be consulted). To reinforce the pertinence and consistency of its actions, Fracpicardie | Des Mondes Dessinés has, since 1985, invested its efforts in a particular domain: that of drawing and the variety of its contemporary dimensions, on or off paper, with or without a pencil. Since 2013 many works have been received from the Centre National des Arts Plastiques – Fonds National d’Art Contemporain to support this approach which has done much to enhance our reputation, both in France and abroad. Exhibitions of works by artists in our collection, commissions and several shows featuring private collections, French and foreign, have all contributed. To further develop its mission, Fracpicardie | Des Mondes Dessinés constantly examines the way its actions and partnerships are deployed across the region, and the means of maintaining the identity of its artistic project in a newly formed region and in enhanced collaboration with its counterpart, the FRAC Grand Large Hauts de France, located at Dunkirk.
