This old monastery and its gardens were occupied by Capuchin friars from the 17th century to the French Revolution, then by Carmelite nuns from 1821 to 1998. The nuns gradually restored the monastery, turning it into a Carmelite convent and building, among others, a new chapel and cloister. When their numbers became too low to live here they left in 1998 and the buildings were acquired by the town. It now houses the town's Heritage services. The Carmelite convent now has a new life as the Maison du Patrimoine, holding many cultural events throughout the year (modern art exhibition, heritage exhibition, concerts, tours, workshops), inside the building and outdoors in the huge gardens surrounding the old monastery.
