In the Middle Ages, water and mills were the heartbeat of the city. The alleys with names tinged with history attest to the artisanal past of this popular district. Today, art galleries, bookstores, boutiques and antique shops share with the inhabitants of the district the small, narrow and colorful houses that have been given a new lease on life. On foot or by bike, Saint-Leu reveals itself to those who take the time... Sitting on a terrace to contemplate the Notre-Dame cathedral, or later in the evening in the "trendy" bars... The early risers will meet on Saturday morning at the "Marché sur l'eau" supplied by the market gardeners of the Hortillonnages.

Near the Parc Saint Pierre with its play areas, and just below the cathedral, you can let your children wander about the (almost) pedestrianized streets of this medieval district. The colourful houses which line the small canals of this "little Venice of the North" are sure to delight young and old alike. Stop off at the Chez Cabotans d'Amiens theatre for a puppet show featuring Ch'Lafleur, a local puppet, and his whole gang. The perfect combination of walking, culture and relaxation!
