Amiens Zoo

  • 120animal species
  • 32conservation programs for endangered species
  • 7hectares of nature in the heart of the city

An island of biodiversity

Close to the city center

Amiens Zoo is a major tourist and cultural establishment in the Hauts-de-France region. It is home to nearly 700 animals, ambassadors of some of the most endangered species on the planet, such as the Sumatran tiger.

Every day, women and men mobilize in favor of the conservation of endangered ecosystems, help advance scientific research, or support the public in their discovery of sometimes surprising species.

Let yourself be surprised by this haven of greenery and waterways where you will experience an exceptional break to meet the flora and fauna of the five continents.

The conversation

A daily commitment

Involved in the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) since 2001, the zoo actively participates in the ex-situ programs of the EAZA (EEP).

These programs aim to conserve a sustainable and diverse genetic heritage for the species it concerns.

If necessary, some animals resulting from these programs can be reintroduced into the natural environment in order to strengthen the wild populations. Thus, in the summer of 2020, the Amiens Zoo team participated in the reintroduction of the Ural owl (Strix uralensis) by releasing individuals born in the park into a Bavarian forest.

Opening times:

February, March, October and November: 10 am-5pm

April, May, June and September: 10 am-6pm

July and August: 10 am-7pm

Annual closure from November 16 to January 31 included

The Pavillon bleu

The rebirth

Built in 1875, the Pavillon Bleu is an integral part of the Amiens heritage. Completely renovated according to its original plans, the establishment now houses the zoo restaurant.

It offers a well-deserved break to park visitors in the rural setting of one of the last Amiens taverns built on the waterfront. Combining tradition and modernity, it offers a local menu and homemade dishes directly inspired by the banks of the Somme river.
