Climbing towers and bell towers

Take deep breaths, control your breathing and climb the few hundred steps to the top of the cathedral towers in Amiens, to the summit of the basilica bell tower in Albert, to the heights of the collegiate church in Abbeville. Your reward? 360° views of the 3 largest towns in the Somme.
After climbing 307 steps to top of Amiens cathedral towers? You can enjoy fabulous panoramic views of the city with commentary from your guide.
From the top of the basilica in Albert you can see World War 1 Remembrance sites, such as Thiepval. You'll also hear about Albert's industrial past, the Battle of the Somme, post war reconstruction, Art Deco and aeronautics (Aérolia factory and airport also visible). From the top of the collegiate church of Saint Vulfran in Abbeville there's a wonderful view of the town and the lush Somme valley.






Mysterious tours

Maxim, your nature guide, can take you on a moonlight tour of the mysteries of Saint-Valery.
The majesty and stature of Saint-Riquier abbey are multiplied at night during a torchlight tour during which you learn all about the past lives of the monks. The evening is deliciously rounded off with a buffet of regional produce. These tours take place on the second Tuesday and third Friday of the month.
At Picquigny, the medieval castle is again open to visitors … and you are in for a treat. Torches and candles are lit for a nocturnal tour of this gem from the Middle Ages (9.30pm on Fridays in July, August & September or by appointment all year round – for groups of 15 people minimum).

On the second Sunday of the month (except July & August) experience an unlikely encounter in Jules Verne's house in Amiens. Jules Verne himself or his wife Honorine, their servant Rose, Hetzel the publisher or famous characters from his novels can take you on a surprising tour of the Jules Verne house.
At Corbie it's the ghost of Messire Guntland, count of Corbie in the 7th century, who appears as a knight to tell you about the history of the town, its heritage and inhabitants.
