Beffroi de Doullens

This belfry, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005 and listed historical building since 1966, was called the "Tour de Beauval" up to the 14th century. Headquarters of the 'échevins' (municipal magistrates) and symbolising civic liberties, this belfry is typical of those found in northern France and Belgium. During many invasions, the belfry was destroyed and rebuilt several times. The final restoration was in 1613.
