Hâble d'Ault et sa Réserve Ornithologique

The port of Ault or "Hâble d'Ault" was in the Middle Ages an important anchorage area for ships that could enter this area through a channel that communicated with the sea.
Nowadays, the Hâble d'Ault marsh is essentially known for the richness of its wild fauna and flora: in fact, more than 270 species of migratory birds have been recorded since the end of the 19th century... The site consists of grassy areas, marshes, gravelly lawns, pebble levees and some fragments of dunes. The place is also home to a hunting and wildlife reserve, which is why it is of interest to many ornithologists. A hiking trail has been set up for the discovery of the site: The bird sanctuary of Hâble d'Ault.
