The Records office and heritage library occupy the entire Hôtel d'Emonville: 5 floors (200 sq.m. each) and 5 km of shelving, home to over 160,000 documents. There are 2 km of additional shelving, housing contemporary records, in various departments of the Town Hall. Priceless treasures: Abbeville's town charter (1184), 12th century Papal Bulls, the "Gospels of Saint Riquier" (an extraordinary 8th century Carolingian manuscript), the "City of God" ( St Augustine) printed by Pierre Gérard in Abbeville in 1486, etc.
