Longueval... this major symbol of South African military history is now a place of peace and tranquillity. A wide avenue of oak trees leads from the entrance to the memorial, perfect for quiet contemplation. Continue to the museum dedicated to the memory of all South Africans killed in combat throughout the 20th century. That's where you can meet the mascot, Nancy! Finish up with a walk in Delville Wood where you still see the only remaining witness to 1916 - a majestic Hornbeam.
