The Little Train of the Great War.

Railroad built in 1916 for the needs of the Battle of the Somme, it was used to supply the trenches and the artillery during the First World War and then was used by the sugar factory of Dompierre. Now used as a tourist attraction, the little train offers a superb panorama of the Somme Valley up to the Santerre plateau on a one-hour round trip from Froissy to Dompierre. The visitor will be able to notice on the course the double turnaround known as in "Z" which allows the convoys to climb the hillside
The museum set up at the train's departure presents an important collection of narrow-gauge rolling stock that tells the story of the little trains from 1880 to today.

En famille

Near Albert you can take a trip on this old local train with its steam engine - a real one. Travel 14 km through history, past fields (!) with fantastic views of the Somme valley. This line was used to bring supplies to the front in 1916. Lots of interesting features: 200m tunnel, railway bridge, the famous Z, old wooden seats, the odd jolt and speck of soot! Fine collection of locomotives, shunters, wagons and carriages in the museum.
