The chapel of the « Souvenir français » in Rancourt symbolises the memory of the French soldiers who fought there. The cemetery is the largest French war cemetery in Somme.

This memorial chapel, built of dressed stone, was not the result of official initiative : the du Bos family, originally from this region, wished to commemorate their son and his comrades who were killed in action on 25 September 1916. In 1937, the Souvenir Français association took on the task of maintaining the monument, and annually organizes here an official ceremony, on the second Sunday of September. |
